Landscapes
The landscapes in this portfolio are of Southern Maine, where I live and work. Coming from New York City's tight urban environment, moving to Maine was a revelation. Summer, my introduction was heaven, but then I was almost crushed by the harshness of my first Maine winter. I'd never seen so much snow and ice. Still I was bewitched by my adopted state's natural beauty—especially the water. I loved the way the water in the marshes, rivers, and lakes peeked out like blue jewels from between the thick masses of green foliage. Everywhere I looked there was a visual feast—rocky cliffs jutting out into the Atlantic at Casco Bay, the ocean, the open panorama, the skies and deep green forests—wow! Even with the vagaries of weather—rain, snow, sunshine, hot or cold, it was to me then, and still is, a magical place, no matter what the season.
